Six part foundation skills for dressmaking course running over three days - starting on Saturday 6th September 10am-4pm then on Sunday 7th September 10am-2pm and then 10am-4pm on Sunday 14th September.
Deposit of £70 to reserve your place then £20 per session to pay: total cost payable £180.
Sewing machine and course materials provided.
This foundation skills course is designed to teach you the basic skills required for dressmaking. By the end of the course you should be able to choose an appropriate pattern with the confidence that you'll be able to understand and interpret the instructions and make a beautiful garment to wear!
Part one: Hand and machine stitching, corners and curves, introduction to fabric types, reading and cutting patterns, sewing terminology
Part two: Sewing a seam, reducing seam bulk, neatening a seam including overedge stitch, french and hong kong finishes.
Part three: Gathers, tucks, darts and pleats
Part four: Hems and edges, buttonholes and zips.
Parts five and six: From a choice of patterns (included in workshop cost) put your new skills to the test, cement your knowledge and create your first garment (fabric not included)
